Mandarin Oragne Salad

6 c green leaf lettuce, cut or torn
1 (11oz) can mandarin oranges
1 ripe avocado, peeled and thinly sliced (optional)
1/2c  chopped pecans or almonds, toasted or raw
2 green onions, thinly sliced
Freshly ground pepper to taste
Italian dressing packet (mix according to directions)
Combine first 6 ingredients in a salad bowl. Add dressing just before serving and gently toss.
